Frequently Asked Questions
How does a typical photo session go?
A session is fast-paced and fun. It feels less like posing and more like a time of exploring in the park. Your mouth won't get sore from holding a long smile; all you have to do is enjoy being you, and the camera will capture it.
Is there anything I should do to prepare for the photo session?
First, be prepared with any outfits or props you wish to have on hand. Most importantly, allow time before the scheduled session starts to walk around, breathe deeply, and think about who you are and what you love. Work to release any stresses in the back of your mind so that your true brilliance can come through. Assure children that they are going to do things they enjoy and that the photographer is simply going to take pictures of them having fun.
What should I wear for the photo session?
Generally, solid colors complement the subject best. Lean toward simple. Dark colors make faces stand out; light colors bring out the natural light in the setting. Solid black is not recommended. People being photographed together do not have to completely match, but best results come from everyone sharing similar hues on the light spectrum (all pastels, or all brights, etc.). Some color/style coordination goes a long way toward displaying the harmony of your family.
Should I bring a change of clothes?
To help the time be used most effectively, it's recommended that any change of look be quick and easy. If you desire more than one look, consider bringing interchangeable cardigans of different colors, or various accessories.
What props should I bring?
Bring a few simple props that help define you as who you are -- a musical instrument, book, art supplies, a sign, board game, sports ball, etc. You could even bring your pet to be part of the photo session.
How does payment work?
Bring the full amount in cash or check to the session. It's that simple!
What is your cancelation and rescheduling policy?
Please give notice of cancelation or rescheduling at least 48 hours prior to your original appointment.
Can I buy a session as a gift for a friend?
Yes, simply send an email via the contact form below and provide the name of the friend receiving the gift. Mail a check, then your friend can book their own session.
Do you offer any discounts?
A 5% off discount applies for anyone willing to let photos from their session be used in any Bright Life's portfolios, online or elsewhere. An additional 15% off discount can be cumulatively applied to future sessions every time you refer a friend who books a session. Be sure your friend mentions your full name as their referral.
